Week 6 Recap

Standings

There’s a new leader in the clubhouse! After taking an L Week 1, Samantha hasn’t lost and is now on top of the leaderboard. Squaring off against Ryan and his undefeated in hypothetical matchups with an average of 126 points per week, the combination of generally mid-level output and Samantha’s weekly consistency meant that she was within striking distance on MNF.

One fourth-quarter play and as Ryan said that night, “that’s the way the cookie crumbles.” Match of the week, instant classic.

Our top 4 teams split along two strategies. Shannon and Samantha are riding with their draft class. Ryan and Megan are the second most active on the waiver wire. The most? Commissioner Crispy. In a clear case or diminishing returns, Chris’ duct-taped waiver wire monstrosity of a team only managed a W because Erik got absolutely screwed with a last minute inactive and had nobody left. Even with that, it was close.

If Erik’s team was a boxed lunch a few weeks ago, then Chris’ team is something approaching gas station sushi.

Meanwhile, in our other top-end matchup, Shannon continues to be quite pleased with herself. Four bellcow RBs, three absolute target monsters at WR, and now a top 10 QB. As for her opponent, Megan had more of an Eeyore week with Patrick Mahomes doing not much and Bijan doing less. When will Lamar come back? Days. weeks. months. Who knows?

Kenneth Walker continues his quest to be the #1 player in fantasy and is singlehandedly keeping Jon’s team afloat. With the Rams imploding and the rest of his roster suffering from various ailments, his game against Morgan was a race to send the fewest people to the blue tent. Unfortunately, both of Morgan’s WRs are now either missing a hamstring or a functioning knee and did not make it back on the field and the Seahawks can’t buy rushing yards…so Jon took this W.

Speaking of injuries, I don’t think anyone has had worse luck than Julian. In his matchup against Tuesday, his WR got carted off the field and his starting RB is playing for the dumbest offense in football. The two most frustrating players in all of fantasy are on his bench, and his backup RB quite literally falls apart after he exceeds his snap count. Despite that, his matchup against Tuesday was actually a lot closer than it might look. She rolled out the NFC East Draft Kings special - Cowboys, Giants, Eagles, and and somebody from the Saints I’ve never heard of. It worked.

And then we come to JB vs Blythe. They should have just played rock, paper, scissors. That would have been more interesting.

Manager Stats

Despite a bunch of movement in the middle, we’re starting to see the league split into Top and Bottom 6. There’s still time for someone to make a run, but it all depends on whether the middle of the pack can gain some ground on the top 4. 1 bad week can shake things up quite a bit, depending on schedule.
