Week 4 Recap

Standings

Gary Payton is us right now. BYE weeks are here so it’s a perfect time to quickly recap the first part of the season.

Ryan and Megan, both at 4-0…but one of these is not like the other.

Megan’s team is running on all cylinders with Bijan, Olave, Tee Higgins, and Rashid Shaheed. 4-0 not a crazy outcome with that lineup. We’ll see how she holds up during the BYE weeks, but even those seem to line up well for her.

Ryan on the other hand is 4th in points scored and 1st in points against - he’s got some running backs and a favorable schedule so far. His next matchup is against Megan, but this is giving 2025 NE Patriots vibes.

The next batch of teams are the most interesting. Shannon and Samantha are sitting at 3-1. Both have been climbing the Power Rankings and are currently 1 spot apart (with JB sandwiched in between).

Shannon mentioned this weekend “I would like to score 156 every week in fantasy”. Let’s be honest, her team is basically the elite version of Ryan’s team…so I would expect a continued upward trajectory.

Samantha’s team has the one thing every team wants - consistency. It’s not a ton of points…but so far it’s been about the same every week. You play Sam, you need to clear 110 points to have a chance. A high floor during the BYE weeks could be lethal.

Who do these two play this week? JB and Morgan!

These two are joined by Tuesday in the last of the Winning at least as much as they are losing group. All three are 5,6,7 in points this season.

That is perfectly middle of the pack…but don’t count them out!

JB has JSN + Love, so when Caleb Williams comes back…he could make some moves! Tuesday’s Ride or Die draft strategy continues to work. She’s made 3 moves so far this season, which is 2 more than she usually makes all season…so who knows. She has Erik, Ju, and Morgan before running into Megan and Shannon so she could have a little run to the top of the board. Morgan had the bad luck of playing Megan and Ryan back-to-back and has Shannon this week. If she can steal a W her schedule gets waaaay easier after that. Add in some Bye week shenanigans, and Morgan will be right on the bubble.

Now for the next part of the standings

I’m not saying it’s impossible to make the playoffs from here…but I’m not not saying that either. Of the 1-3 crew, only Blythe is mixing it up in the Power Rankings…but then again Fantasy Points puts Jon’s title chances at 8.3% (good for 5th, just behind JB)…so who knows.

Blythe took a narrow loss to Tuesday and as long as Gibbs is healthy and the 49ers don’t get their knees electrocuted, she’ll be a week-to-week contender.

The Commish is running an urgent care facility right now, so you can add 10 points to your win percentage until SOMEONE, ANYONE gets healthy.

Jon and Erik had the best matchup of the week last week. Erik got the W and entered the club. The return of Puka might change Erik’s fate, but it really comes down to how good Drake Maye is going to be. Jon only took the W because Ja’Marr Chase got a concussion. He stays in the game and this recap is VERY different.

Drake:Erik Chase:Jon

That’s your season.

Which brings us to Julian. He might be 0-4, but 3 of thos are to the top 3 teams in the league and he had a legit shot at taking down Morgan in Week 2. His bench was on fire against Megan (not good enough for the W, but would have been waaay closer) and Shannon went scorched earth last week.

So, kinda not his fault. He’s got 5.5% chance at the title, which is ahead of Erik and just behind JB (for reference, the Commish is at 2.5%) - so he’s not dead yet. He should remember to actually set his lineup (or let ESPN do it) so he doesn’t take any unforced errors.
