Week 5 Recap

No Burn Book performances this week - but the fantasy gods did bestow None for Julian Fohrman, bye this week by taking away Omarion Hampton after Ju refused to move players on a BYE.

The first BYE week did induce some separation in the power rankings (mostly at the bottom), but the actual standings are still very much up for grabs right now.

Standings

The only place to start is with the performance of the week - Jon assembled a score of 149.72 points with what could best be described as the grown up version of Little Giants. This was Jon’s pre-game pep talk.

Saquon is definitely Ice Box and as for the rest? I don’t think you could assemble a more random group of players if you tried. Justin Fields, Rico Dowdle, LUKE MCCAFFREY?!? I mean Jon really didn’t have a choice - his entire bench was out this week, so this was a fantasy Hail Mary. And it worked. It’s not the highest score of the season (that belongs to Megan in Week 2), but Jon did it with a bunch of randoms and Megan had actual players you have heard of.

This goes to show that this year’s cheat code is getting a player who takes kickoff and punt returns in addition to a few snaps or two on the real offense. For example, over on Blythe’s team, Chimere Dike (yes, that’s a real person) had 2 receptions for 17 yards and 20 fantasy points. Here’s a few others.

Meanwhile, in the Margarita Matchup of the Week, Morgan and Blythe battled it out all the way through Monday Night Football. Josh Allen delivered, as did Ashton Jeanty. Travis Kelce played like people were talking about…him, and Nick Chubb outperformed (probably because he was playing the Ravens).

It looked like it was going to be a blowout. Until

Trevor Lawrence > Hair > blowout. Get it?

Whatever

Blythe made a heroic last effort, but it wasn’t quite enough.

We had two entries in Club 99 this week (Julian and JB are regulars at this point).

I’m sensing a theme - THE CARDINALS SCREWED EVERYONE

There were lots of points left on the bench, but the Bench of the Week goes to Tuesday.

She had TWO 0.0 starts (because of injury) and her bench would have netted her a score of 137.38 - and a 1 point win over Samantha. That would have been good enough to snag second place OVERALL…and yet she’s still in sixth with 75% of a team.

For this performance I award 3 DAY-VUD!!!s

I’m already over the MNF double-header and the international games. Make it stop. At least these matchups are good (except London, WTF is this game)
