Championship Recap
That’s it! 16 weeks and we’re done. Time to recap the final matchups!
Championship: Erik vs Blythe
Both teams came in riding decisive victories in round one. Only one of the teams continued the trend.
Erik was…not bad? Other than David Montgomery, who warmed the bench with 2.4
points, everybody played right around their projections. The problem was, his
team wasn’t that good to begin with, so meeting expectations is a nice way of
saying GOOD FOR YOU, now let the grownups have a turn.
His opponent? Blythe led off with a BEST OF THE SEASON performance from K-9.
Combined with a second-best-of-the-year performance from the new CEO of Herbal
Essences, it was basically over. Erik needed Blythe’s team to under-perform
somewhere and…yeah, that didn’t happen. Instead, Blythe had the 4th-best
performance of the entire year and basically showed Erik the door on Thursday.
CONGRATULATIONS TO BLYTHE and welcome to the 2-time championship club.
Sacko: JB vs Julian
Now this matchup was exciting. JB was trying go avoid his first DFL since 2019. Julian was staring down becoming the first back-to-back loser since…JB in 2019 and the third-member of the club (we have jackets).
While the matchup was close on paper - this was not a close game. JB’s started with a QB going -5. The rest of his roster? 4 RBs + JSN = Nuke. There hasn’t been this kind of domination since Rancho Carne decided that it was Cold in Here.
Julian? Other than an MVP performance from Drake Maye, the rest of his team was a nothingburger.
Sorry not sorry Julian The good news is…no Hot Ones Redux for you. Bad News? The League will decide - mazeltov.
The Rest
With this being the end of the season, I thought I would give everyone a rapid recap for their season.
- Samantha: Your team was bananas this year, you just happened to run right into a Blythe-shaped buzzsaw. Erik might have finished second, but at least you can still use whole numbers to count your rings.
- Ryan: 8 Weeks of winning, followed by 8 weeks of losing. Maybe you should coach the Ravens at this point.
- Megan: Your season? Joe Burrow + Tony Pollard. And somehow you were STILL one win away from the big show. The loss that hurts more than Burrow’s toe? Week 7 to Julian. Win that and you would have knocked Blythe out in the first round…and then who knows?
- Morgan: Next to last to the edge of the playoffs. No team had a better glowup than you did. Must have been the TEs.
- Tuesday: The most relaxed roster in the league. No moves, no trades, too cool for school.
- Shannon: You and George Pickens took 7 losses and said - WHATEVER.
- Jon: All year? Not good. Last week of the season? Burners.
- Chris: I lost to Jon.
GG everybody. See you next year!
